Christ Church is searching for a Minister of Music to lead us musically as a faith community. The primary focus of the position remains the centrality of the organ of Christ Church with conducting and leading the choir supplementary to it. Christ Church is a musically centered faith community invested in its instrument and committed to quality in this essential aspect of worship. It sees all aspects as central to the total experience with the inclusion of the gathered and seated community to the Prelude and Postlude. It is proud to maintain connections with the Greater Buffalo String Orchestra and the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra as rehearsal and sometimes performance space. Moreover, Christ Church hosts BRAVO workshop in the summer in addition to several other musical commitments and connections in the community.

Job Summary: To plan, in consultation with the Pastoral staff, and prepare instrumental and choral/vocal music for all regular traditional Sunday worship services, as well as all annual church holiday services, that is appropriate for, and supportive of the themes of said services. Hours will be worked both on and off-site according to the traditional weekly and seasonal demands of the position.
Essential Functions:
- Administration, rehearsal and development of the Adult Choir. Weekly rehearsals from the second Sunday in September through the second or third week of June.
- Selection and preparation of high-quality level organ and/or instrumental music as may be appropriate for each service
- Plan and provide music for summer worship services when the Adult Choir is not in session
- When possible, desirable, or appropriate, seek out and develop opportunities for special musical performances in conjunction with other church choirs
The position pays ~$25,000 annually.
