Mentorship Program

Each Fall and Spring semester, the Eastman School of Music takes part in a university-wide mentorship program connecting current students to alumni, faculty, and industry professionals. With the choice of either a 1 or 3-month option, this guided mentorship program is a great way for relationships to be built while mentors help to guide mentees through career ideation and options.

Faculty, staff and parents, you can sign up to be a mentor as well!

Student registration for Fall 2023 occurs between Sept. 16 – Oct. 8.

Meliora Collective

Interested in connecting with alumni outside of the mentoring program? No problem. All Eastman School of Music students, faculty, staff & alumni can become part of the University of Rochester’s professional platform where you can connect, network, and discuss field-related topics at your own pace.

I began the mentorship program at what was functionally the height of the pandemic. As a newly graduated student, it was a difficult time to be unsure about the future of my career and the job market. My mentor played a pivotal role in helping me to navigate not only my career, but help to cope with the uncertainty and challenges caused by the pandemic. My mentor went above and beyond in both time and effort to help me. I was so impressed with the way he prepared for each session and it always felt like I was a priority. While the program has ended, my mentor has continued to stay in touch.

My Meliora Mentor, Dr. Rachel Roberts, was incredibly generous with her time and knowledge, going above and beyond to give me guidance. Even when I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted from the mentorship, she was able to help me figure out long- and short-term goals and direct my focus to areas that would help accomplish them. I recommend the Meliora Mentorship program to any alum, whether they have specific questions or are seeking guidance in the next steps of their career.
