REQUIREMENTS
- Proven record as an outstanding string educator and conductor
- Expertise in leading elementary and middles school bowed string ensembles
- Deep understanding of the social and artistic needs of pre-college students
- Ability to communicate effectively with ensemble members and parents
- Ability to work collaboratively with ECMS faculty and staff.
- Additional areas of expertise or interest: Administrative skills
The Eastman Community Music School (ECMS), a division of the renowned Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, offers music lessons, ensembles, and classes to community members of all ages and backgrounds. ECMS serves approximately 1,700 students during the school year and hundreds more each summer. From pre-school and early childhood programs, to college prep and diploma programs, to adult ensembles and classes, ECMS nurtures and inspires students at all levels.
Tutti and Camerata (mixed instrument bowed string ensembles) are integral part of ECMS vision to create a complete musician through lessons, classes, and ensembles.
DUTIES
· Direct two bowed string ensembles Tutti (grade 3-6) and Camerata (grade 6-9)
· Conduct rehearsals and performances
· Recruit for ensembles (internally and externally)
· Coordinate and administer the Tutti and Camerata needs, managing necessary functions such as repertoire selection, concert scheduling etc.
· Communicate effectively, and in a timely manner with ECMS Director, ensemble members and ECMS faculty and staff
· Attend possible meetings with ECMS administration when appropriate and required by the contract.
