Guest Lecture from 2:35-3:25PM in Ciminelli Formal Lounge
Individual Advising, 4:00-6:00PM, IML Office
Jesper Anderson, Associate Professor and Head of Tonmeister Program at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, will be at Eastman November 21-25, 2024, to work with students from across the Eastman School. On Thursday, 11/21, Jesper will work with the Hearing and Balance Club on River Campus and present to the Eastman Community on audio production and engineering (2:35-3:25 in Ciminelli–OPEN to the ESM Community). On Friday, 11/22, Jesper will present on cochlear implants to the Music for Special Learners course (MTL 216) and will participate in a research study co-facilitated by Katherine Ciesinski and Gaelen McCormick. On Monday, 11/25, Jesper will present on research design and implementation to the Quantitative Research Course (MTL/TH 505).
At the open lecture entitled “Wired for Success – Recording Production Behind the Microphone”, Andersen will be presenting a look behind the scenes of a Grammy-nominated album in the Best Production category. His experience as a musician, arranger, producer, sound engineer, and production manager come together, just as many technical elements interface to make a stellar recording. He will focus particularly on the key interplay between technical and artistic choices.
Jesper is excited to meet Eastman students and faculty who wish to learn more about the highly collaborative field of sound production in live concert settings as well as studio recordings. Anyone who has produced their own audition or performance recording will value Jesper’s input and inspiration.
