Praised for her musicianship and shimmering tone, soprano Alexandra Rose Hotz is equally at home on the opera, concert, and recital stage. She has performed as the title role in Handel’s Alcina, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, and Phaino in Kate Soper’s Here be Sirens. This summer, she will join the Music Academy of the West to sing Frasquita in Carmen. The recipient of several awards, she most recently was chosen as a winner of the Los Angeles District of the Laffont Metropolitan Opera Competition, and was also awarded Third Place at the NOA’s Carolyn Bailey Argento Vocal Competition in the Artist Division. A passionate recitalist, Alexandra will join the Cincinnati Song Initiative’s inaugural Fellowship of the Song in May. As a concert soloist, she has performed Stephen Stucky’s Sappho Fragments and Mahler’s Second Symphony as well as oratorios by Handel and Haydn and cantatas by Bach and Tom Cipullo.
A recent graduate of Eastman, Alexandra received the Doctorate of Musical Arts in 2023 and her Masters in 2020 while studying with Professor Anthony Dean Griffey.
