The Society for Ethnomusicology offers prizes and awards which recognize individuals for distinguished work in ethnomusicology and offer opportunities for students, doctoral candidates at American universities, pursuing work on a dissertation, as well as established scholars. They predominantly cover the publishing of books and articles and offer awards for published works, and travel and research grants. Some of the prizes require membership with the Society for Ethnomusicology; projects which include work in the public-sector, as well as applications from people who identify as part of marginalized groups are strongly encouraged.
