The many awards and scholarships of this foundation cover a broad range of categories, mainly in the fields of composition, songwriting, musical theater, social action and education, and are conferred either after application or by nomination. There are prizes offered for middle and high school teachers and students, undergraduate and graduate students, and sometimes they are targeted at specific schools and universities. All applicants must either be an ASCAP writer member in good standing or not be affiliated with any performing rights or collective rights management organization.
