The BMI Foundation awards prizes, scholarships, fellowships, and a commission in the honor and celebration of a number of musicians and former BMI members. Areas covered are songwriting, big band jazz composition, lyric writing, and musical theatre. Some types of funding are tied to an educational organization or by invitation only while others are open for application.
