The Entrepreneurial Spirit and its Place in Traditional Jobs
October 10, 2016 In: Sound BitsKate Sheeran, Provost and Dean of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music was a panelist this past weekend at the INNOVATE. LEAD. MUSIC. Conference. One thing she said really stuck with me. The panelists were discussing the importance of innovation and entrepreneurial thinking and training. Kate made the point that thinking like an innovator and entrepreneur is not just for people starting their own businesses, ensembles, studios, etc. She said that we need individuals to serve in existing organizations, take on roles in traditional settings, and bring an entrepreneurial spirit and mindset to their work. This can help foster innovation and creative ideas within an existing structure. I think that is a great point!. So don’t be afraid to approach your work with the mindset of an entrepreneur, whether you are in a traditional position at an existing organization, or starting your own business from the ground up.
