June 6, 2017 In: Sound BitsThe New Bedford (MA) Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) has a remarkably creative education program, led by Terry Wolkowicz, a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and Harvard University. Recently, the NBSO completed a year-long education project that engaged over 55 schools and used the concept of gravity as a theme for the year. Students had the opportunity to learn about gravity in space and parallel ideas in music such as harmonic progressions. They even had the chance to compose their own progressions and hear the results! Watch this fantastic short video to see the very creative and captivating work of the NBSO’s educational program, “Gravity in Space and Sound.”
