Spotlight on Innovation: Eastman Saxophone Project

Have you had the pleasure of hearing the Eastman Saxophone Project live in concert?  If not, you still have time to register to attend the exciting one-day conference on October 8th in Rochester, NY – INNOVATE. LEAD. MUSIC. a conference examining creativity, leadership, and vibrancy in today’s most innovative ensembles and organizations.

Included in the full day event (which only costs $25!!) is a concert by the Eastman Saxophone Project (ESP), fresh off a tour of China.  Part of what makes ESP unique is that they perform all their music from memory, perform without a conductor, arrange much of their music themselves, and perform a wide variety of music.  Without music stands separating the performers from the audience, the players are more free to act out the music in ways that can be lighthearted, invigorating, delicate, but always communicative.  This interaction with the audience has proven to win the hearts of many fans, and is one of their innovative and defining characteristics.  Check out their YouTube channel here to see some of their performances.
