Announcing the Fall 2020 PRJC Grant Recipients
November 9, 2020 In: PRJC News, Sound BitsThe Paul R. Judy Center for Innovation and Research is proud to announce five new projects that have been awarded funding through the PRJC Grant Program. The grant committee received a wealth of excellent proposals for innovative projects and researching surrounding the Center’s focus on anti-racism work in the musical arts ecosystem and the achievement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all elements of our profession. The projects receiving funding for the Fall 2020 grant cycle include:
Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington – Eugene, OR
The Umoja Flute Institute – a virtual summer series that offers educational workshops, performances, and professional development opportunities to flutists of African descent
Michael Drapkin – Sarasota, FL
Texas Chamber Orchestra – Combatting systematic racism in the symphony orchestra through the Brooklyn model
Dalanie Harris – Pasadena, CA
Black Music in a Radicalized Society – exploring the musical, cultural, racial, and political climates within the Black community in the late 1940s-2010s
Margaret Hincliffe – Boulder, CO
“How It’s (Musically) Made” – reinventing the art song tradition through interdisciplinary collaborations focused on inclusion
SOLI Chamber Ensemble – San Antonio, TX
((Here)) – A community-focused commission for chamber ensemble, electronics, vocalist, and androgynous dancer
