About this event:

This two-part workshop will teach artists about the various legal and business considerations that may be applicable to their career needs. The first workshop will focus on issues of copyright, trademarks, licensing, and business structures. The second workshop will focus on business basis and entertainment law. Both workshops aim to help artists understand how to maintain rights to their work, especially when selling and/or otherwise utilizing an online format. Both workshops will allow time for Q&A with the presenters.

Note: Workshop attendees have the ability to earn a professional development certificate by completing all workshops in Modules 1, 2, and 3 in this series. Workshop participation can be synchronous or asynchronous; live workshops will be recorded and shared on a closed link, viewable through March 1, 2021. For those that complete all workshops in this three-part series, electronic certificates will be emailed on November 10, 2020 and March 10, 2021.

About the Series: This fall, the Ain Center is working with Eastman’s Institute for Music Leadership and a number of community partners to offer a series of online workshops, called Roc the Business of Art, aimed to help artists in the greater Rochester area develop business and entrepreneurial skills. This partnership is through the Arts in the Loop Initiative. This workshop will focus on Legal & Business Considerations.
