About this event:
Karl Vilcins recently won the national audition for the 2nd bassoon/contrabassoon chair with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. A few seasons prior, he was a sabbatical replacement as the principal bassoon in the RPO. He will share what the preparation for a national orchestral job opening looks like, with the added elements of having already played in an orchestra under these circumstances. Karl has two children and will talk about how he balanced the time demands of parenting, gigging, reed-making, and time management in the lead-up to an audition.
This event is part of Strategies for Audition Success taught by Galen McCormick.
