In the context of learning solo repertoire in a private lesson, discover methods and techniques for developing students’ independent musicianship, including (a) examination of the composer’s musical decision-making process, (b) standard practicing techniques that can be made more improvisatory, and (c) ways to integrate improvisation and composition into lessons.
