Cathy Callis
Cathy Callis’s musical career encompasses teaching, performing, and program design. As a soloist and orchestral pianist she’s played with orchestras including the Rochester Philharmonic and Chautauqua Symphony. Academic appointments include Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Currently serving as a professor of music at Queens College and Hofstra University, Dr. Callis develops courses including The Politics of Music and is dedicated to teaching her music appreciation and piano students. Cathy holds a Bachelor of Music with Distinction, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees from the Eastman School of Music. She was awarded a Performer’s Certificate in Piano, and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda. Piano studies include work with Frank Glazer, Brooks Smith, David Burge at Eastman, and in London, England with Maria Curcio.
